What I want to do!

I was lying in bed this morning, wondering what I should do with my life now that my office job is nearing its end and unemployment is staring me in the face. Suddenly I figured "Why not use my imagination, love for movies (and movie stars) and love for my country to write stories about what I would do if I could meet movie stars here in Iceland?" It doesn't hurt, it's something fun and it gives me something to do while I figure out my next career move.

I am one of those people who has an undying passion for movies and the stories they tell but I would also love to meet the people making the movies, whether lighting technicians, runners for coffee, the actors or the producers. I don't think I would swoon over them, but I'd just love to meet them and make sure they had fun in Iceland.

So who am I? I am a 28 year old Icelandic woman living in the capital of Iceland who really loves organizing trips and. I love discovering things about my own country (and others for that matter)I enjoy meeting new people, love hearing peoples stories and one of the things I would do if I could is to find a way to get Iceland out of this recession.

I also love movies, although I'm not a deep ponderer about them. I prefer thinking about the stories themselves and how they make me feel afterwards. I don't think too much about camera techniques, the dialogue or whether or not the actors had the right shoes on, unless I've seen the movie 15,000 times and start paying attention to these things. I religiously stay away from thrillers or blood&gore movies after having seen IT when I was 10 and couldn't enter my bedroom for 3 hours because I was terrified the hideous clown was waiting for me under my bed (when I finally managed to enter my bedroom I looked into my closet and under my bed five times before I fell asleep, and even then I made sure that my bedroom door and my parents' door was open in case of sudden need for escape).

Why should movie stars (or anyone) come to Iceland?
  1. Iceland is a beautiful country, not too hot and not too cold, with various activities that anybody (not just movie stars!) can enjoy. We have river rafting, glaciers, glacial lagoons, beautiful nature, dark nights, aurora borealis (northern lights), the ocean, whales, peaceful nights, midnight sun (during the summer), good food, discusting food, snow and so much more.
  2. The Icelandic nation itself is not too jumpy when it comes to celebrities. We are a pretty closed nation and even though a few movie stars have not been able to exit a few night clubs without a kiss or two, instances like that are few (that I know of). There are no lines of screaming girls or boys, no masses of paparazzi and we just want others to enjoy our country without bringing too much harm to it.
I will be posting a better description of myself and Iceland later on. I made a promise to myself to write once a week, so this will be a weekly blog for now. My goal is to actually have one movie star show up in Iceland with his or her family and / or friends and to take care of their needs for one week. Lets see if I can get anywhere with that.
